Cremated Remains

The cremated remains can either be taken away in a container for strewing or burial elsewhere, or placed in one of the many locations we offer. For instance, in our Garden of Remembrance, they can be interred in one of our monthly gardens. If the death occurs in June, the June garden can be used, and is planted with azaleas and trees that flower at that time of the year. A similar themed garden display occurs on each of the twelve monthly gardens. Alternatively, the cremated remains can be strewn in one of the six woods around the Garden of Remembrance. The woods are planted with native trees and many bulbs to give a true woodland atmosphere. Similarly you may choose to strew the cremated remains in our woodland burial area, amongst the Scots Pines.

The use of the Garden of Remembrance is included in the cremation fee, but the following options require additional payment. For those who require a memorial, the Memorial Wall displays bronze and granite plaques.  Small cremated remains graves, on which you can place individual memorials, are available in each of our three cemeteries. There is also the "Heather Garden", which is described below.

Heather Garden - This paved garden is situated in Carlisle Cemetery, immediately next to the crematorium and accessible by car. It is designed for ease of access and is ideal for those with mobility problems, or wheelchair users. It contains "Sanctum 2000" and "Sanctum 12" units, made of sandstone and granite, which include a plaque with space for up to two caskets inside. The caskets are retained above ground, and not placed in the soil. Memorial Vase tablets are also available.

Similarly polished granite "Sanctum 2000" units are available in Carlisle Cemetery adjacent to the rear entrance to the Woodland burial site.
