Post-incident support
If you have been a victim of fire then you already know how
traumatic and devastating it can be, but having the right
assistance and advice there when you need it will help you through
this difficult time.
The advice given here has been broken down into logical sections
for easy reference, but should you need any more assistance please
contact your local Fire Service.
Always remember that prevention is better than cure and should
you require any advice whatsoever, do not hesitate to contact your
local Fire Prevention Officer who will be pleased to advise how to
prevent fire re-occurring in your home.
If at any time after a fire you feel unwell or suffer the after
effects of smoke inhalation, contact your Doctor or Hospital
Accident and Emergency department.
The Fire Victim Support Service is designed to meet the needs of
people who have suffered damaged to their home following a fire,
flood or similar incident.

Cross volunteers, who work in co-operation with the Local Fire And
Rescue Service. They use an adapted vehicle to assist them in
providing practical and emotional support to the victims of the
incident. They will arrive at the scene within 90 minutes of being
called by the Fire and Rescue Service.
