Cumbria County Council provide information on Family History & Genealogy (external link).
Civil Registration began in 1837, and each Register Office still holds the records for their district for all Births, Deaths & Marriages up to the present day. They do not provide a research facility, but are happy to offer advice to assist you where they can.
There is a Tracing Your Family page in the 'life events' section on our website which contains lots of information from the Cumbria Records Office, Archive Service and National Archives.
