Computer Café
Friday mornings from 19 September 2008
9.30am to 12noon

Drop-in for a coffee and our friendly tutors will give you the support and guidance you need to gain confidence in using your computer and browsing the Internet.  Ask those questions you’ve always been afraid to ask:  How do I shop online? How do I move my files around?   Can I help the kids with homework on the Internet? It’s up to you. Come along and have a go. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Computer Housekeeping
A five-week course Starting Monday 3 November 2008 6.30pm - 8.30pm

Learn some basic maintenance for your PC.  This introductory course is designed for those who have a basic working knowledge of the mouse, keyboard and computer.  You will learn how to change the desktop display and the general settings of your PC.  Put shortcut icons on the desktop, empty the recycle bin, look at Spyware and virus checks defragment and run scandisk to keep your computer working effectively. 

Christmas Address Labels
A three-week course Starting Tuesday 4 November 2008
1pm to 3pm
Put an end to writing out all those addresses on your Christmas card envelopes. This short course will show you how to create an address list, prepare and print a set of labels for your Christmas cards.

Build your Family Website
A five-week course Starting Wednesday 4 November
9.30am to 11.30am
Make your own live website, using Google pages to share with your family and friends.  Learn how to scan, edit and upload images.  Add web pages to your site, insert and format text and link and publish your pages. 

FLEXIBLE LEARNING
Wednesdays 1pm to 3pm Starting 5 November

Something for all levels of knowledge and experience. This is a flexible programme where you can work at your own pace purely for pleasure or to study towards a qualification. It's up to you.

Each session allows you to study subjects that are relevant to you. You can cover a broad range of topics, including Desktop Publishing, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Internet, E-mail, Web Design, Computer Art and File Management. You can study for new CLAiT or a CLAiT Plus nationally recognised qualification. New CLAiT is for the beginner and CLAiT Plus for anyone with some experience.

Our tutors will advise and assess your individual needs. They will create a learning plan for you and will be on hand all the way through your learning experience to support and guide you.

Family Ancestry
A five-week course Starting Thursday 6 November
9.30am to 11.30am
Get started tracing your family history using the Internet.  You will learn how to search Internet family history sites, create a family tree and extract information from the 1881 census and the Birth Marriage and Death Index.  The course will cover on-line registration with the Ancestry Website and scanning in family photographs to enhance your family tree. 


Christmas Cards, Calendars and Gift Tags Workshop
A three-week course Starting Friday 21 November 2008
10am to 3pm
Create your own personalised, professional looking cards for Christmas, using Microsoft Publisher.  Learn how to use many of the tools in Publisher to design and print your works of art.  Scan drawings, photos and pictures or use your own digital photographs to create imaginative cards and gift tags.  Create your own personalised message inside your card and compliment it with a matching gift tag.  The cost of the course includes printing a limited number of cards and tags, if you would like further copies we will charge you a reasonable rate. 

Refreshments and a light lunch are included.  Please state your dietary requirements.

Members work on their own projects, under the supervision of a fully qualified woodwork, craft, carpentry and joinery tutor, in a friendly atmosphere where all ages and abilities are welcome.

Painting and Drawing

This course aims to help students to become skilled in basic drawing and painting techniques. By studying everyday objects, the secrets of ‘perspective’ and ‘colour’ are unveiled by the act of ‘looking and seeing’.

Make your own Clothes
The Wooden Hut Arts and Crafts Centre
Starting 19 September 2008 Friday 9.30 to 12noon
An eight-week course
This course is aimed at those who have a sewing machine and don't know how to use it. You will work on your own individual project and be guided through the techniques needed, from cutting out, stitching, fitting the garment and caring for the fabric. Taking an existing garment and reworking it, or starting from scratch, you will learn sewing techniques for both hand and machine.

Bring your own sewing machine and find out how it works and what it can do for you. Add a bit of flair and individuality to your wardrobe and start saving the planet and some money!
