Cumbria Logistics Employer Forum
The CLEF steering group met to agree some roles and objectives
for the future. Andy Hallington from Carrs Billington was appointed
as Chairman and John Scott from Enesco as Vice-Chairman. In
addition, the steering group was agreed as Chris Fylan (Skills for
Logistics), Peter Scott (BOCM Pauls), Christopher Pearson (Carlisle
City Council), Tony Higgins (System Training), Tony McCormick
(Sealy UK) and John Outhwaite (Reays Coaches).
The steering group has established the following objectives for
the forum:
- Promote the growth of the logistics sector in Cumbria – by
encouraging new business development, further employment
opportunities and establishing Cumbria as a logistics
destination.
- Increase the awareness and profile of logistics in Cumbria – by
promoting Logistics Academy North West, increasing awareness of
opportunities in logistics within schools, colleges, employment
agencies and at job fairs.
- Provide a one stop shop for CLEF membership on training and
development of people – by informing on training providers and
funding available and keeping members abreast of changes in
legislation with regards to training.
- Provide a networking facility for CLEF members to share best
practice.
- Identify common issues affecting CLEF members and provide a
forum for discussion and action.
