Shared care for adults

Carers and Cumbria County Council

Carers are people who look after others, providing care or essential support to people who are unable to do everything for themselves.  Carers may be relatives of the person they look after or they might be a friend or neighbour.  They may or may not live with them.  The amount of support a carer provides will also vary.  Apart from state benefits, carers will not be paid for the care and support they provide.

Cumbria County Council is committed to supporting carers.  They recognise that most care in the community takes place through family, friends and neighbours.
