Public disorder
Carlisle adopts a strong stance in order to maintain a relaxed
and law abiding environment on it’s streets. Designated Public
Place Orders, street closures, plastic drinking glasses, high
visibility policing and CCTV are just some of the measures which
the Council, Police and partners have taken to reduce alcohol
related public disorder.
The Designated Public Place Orders allow the Police to exercise
extra powers to seize or dispose of bottles, cans, glasses and to
arrest those who continue to drink in the streets or who refuse to
hand over such containers, within the designated areas.
Maintaining Public Order relies on effective partnership working
between the City Council and Cumbria Police. The Police help to
maintain night time economy’s across the district and ensure
that protective measures.
Our Door Supervisors are all registered with the Security
Industry Authority and licensed by the
Council. They wear high visibility clothing and most are issued
with body cameras which record in sound and video any situation
they encounter.
