Fireshow 2011

Date: Saturday 5th November 2011
Venue: Bitts Park, Carlisle
Times: Entertainment starts at 6.30pm, Bonfire lit
at 7pm
Admission: Free
The Carlisle Fireshow is in the top ten bonfire and firework
displays in the country and attracts around 35,000 people. The
bonfire is themed and built to a specific construction which has a
pyrotechnic and firework display set onto moving parts. The
firework display which follows is spectacular and the whole show is
set to music. A fairground and catering units are also on site and
add to the atmosphere.
Admission is free although donations are collected for local
charities.

Parking / Access information & Safety
Advice
All City Council car parks are free after 6pm, some other car
parks may charge. The following temporary traffic arrangements will
apply throughout the day:
- No vehicle access to Bitts Park. The Sheepmount will also be
closed.
- No vehicle access to Dacre Road (adjacent to Carlisle Castle
& Bitts Park).
- Bitts Park (Dacre Road) Car Park will be closed.
- No vehicle access to Bitts Park from Willowholme or The
Sheepmount.
Park & Ride
Reays Coaches is providing a Park & Ride
service.
To
Carlisle
From West Cumbria park at
Wigton:
Parking is at Reays Depot, Wigton CA7 9NE.
Buses will be departing at 16.30, 17.00, 17.30 & 18.00, calling
at King Street, Wigton at 35mins and 05mins and at the bus stop at
Ship Inn, Thursby at 40mins & 10 mins past. Drop off will be at
the entrance to Willowholme Industrial Estate
From North & East park at
Kingmoor:
Parking is at Kingmoor Park, Carlisle CA6
4SJ. Buses will be departing from 17.00 - 19.30, maximum waiting
time will be 20mins. Drop off will be at The Sands Car Park
From South & East park at
Rosehill:
Parking is at
Rosehill Industrial Estate, Carlisle CA1 2RU. Buses will be
departing from 17.00 - 19.30, maximum waiting time will be 20mins.
Drop off will be at The Sands Car Park
From
Carlisle
To Wigton:
Buses will
return from the drop off point at 20.00, leaving when full. The
last bus will leave at 21.30.
To Kingmoor Park &
Rosehill:
Buses will return from the drop off point
from 20.00. The last bus will leave at 22.00.
Tickets will be sold on the day by Reays staff
from the car parks. Tickets cost:
Rosehill & Kingmoor
- Adult £2 return
- Child £1 return
Wigton Depot
- Adult £3 return
- Child £1.50 return

Access
Limited disabled parking although
some spaces will be reserved in Devonshire Walk Car Park on first
come, first served basis. A special viewing area for wheelchair
users will be set aside on Sheepmount Road.
After the event has ended, those wanting to
walk to the West of the city will be filtered to the right of
Devonshire Walk (towards Caldewgate and the pedestrian crossing
opposite The Globe public house) and those wanting to walk into the
city centre will be filtered to the left and will then be able
access Castle Street across Castle Way (between the barriers
opposite the Castle).
Safety
Visitors are asked to note that by
the very nature of the event, smoke, noise, embers and mud
underfoot, are inevitable. All are requested to be mindful of the
risks and to come prepared for such eventualities: warm clothing
and suitable footwear.
For safety reasons, no fireworks of any
kind (including sparklers) are allowed into this event.
Pets are also prohibited from the park: they should be kept safely
at home to avoid any possible distress. The sale of fluorescent
or luminous items should only be purchased from authorised
users inside the park.
Carlisle Fireshow is a family event and no
alcohol will be permitted on site. Any alcohol, open or sealed,
will be confiscated by police under the designated public place
order.
