Hate Crime
Hate Crime is described as any
incident, which is perceived by the victim or any other person, as
being motivated by prejudice or hate. The prejudice or hate
perceived can be based on any identifying factor including
disability, faith, sexual orientation, gender identity and
race.
If you are a victim of a hate crime or
incident you should report it. You can report in the same manner as
any other incident:
- In an emergency always dial 999
- Contact our communication centre 0845 33 00 247
- Call at your local police station
- Approach any officer
- Print and fill out a self/third party reporting form
(below) and return to one of the
third party reporting centres (external link)
We have found that people who report incidents to us for the
first time have usually already suffered several similar incidents
before contacting us. They will almost always be subject
to further victimisation which if left unchecked can easily
escalate and become more serious.
Every incident will be treated seriously – no incident
will be considered trivial.
