Place Survey
In September 2008 the first ‘Place Surveys’
were undertaken by Local Authorities across the country.
The Place survey is a statutory
biennial survey which replaced the old Best Value Satisfaction
Survey (BVUSS). As well as helping us assess how well
Carlisle City Council is working with all our partners to
deliver the services that matter to residents it also provides us
with data for 20 of the indicators in the new National Indicator
Set.
Where the previous BVUSS used to focus on
service delivery and individual organisations, the Place Survey (as
the name suggests) focuses on ‘place’. It asks residents questions
which are intended to assess what it is like to live in Carlisle,
and explores how well outcomes are delivered for local people,
regardless of which organisation is responsible for delivering
specific services.
In particular
the Place Survey asked for opinions about aspects of the
quality of life in a local area (such as community safety, local
services, etc) which we know are important to local people.
