Blooming event celebrates 20 years
The Carlisle and Borders Spring Show will be celebrating its
20th anniversary this year and will be back to its blooming best
this May.
The Carlisle City Council’s Spring Show will be held in Bitts
Park and Victoria Park over the May bank holiday weekend (Sunday, 4
May and Monday, 5 May). Thousands of people are expected to attend
the horticultural show.
More than 40 stalls selling a variety of plants and garden
accessories from top gardening experts will be on show. Children
are also catered for with a Family Activity Marquee with arts and
crafts, face painting, a children’s ride and Daffy Dill -
children’s entertainer.
Entertainment will be provided by the Apu Peruvian band who are
sure to provide a vibrant atmosphere to complement the stalls and
exhibitions from the West Lakes Crafts and Floral Art marquees.
Countryside activities will include a Gardeners Question Time at
2pm, on both days, in the Green Spaces marquee.
Rob Burns, Carlisle City Council’s Community Support Manager
said:
"We are hoping that thousands of visitors will
come out and support the event. There will be stalls and
entertainment to suit all tastes and it is sure to be an enjoyable
family day out."
The show will take place on Sunday, 4 May and Monday, 5 May,
between 10am and 5pm. The floral art marquee will open from noon on
Sunday, 4 April (to allow judging to take place). Admission is
£2.50 (accompanied children under 16 have free admission).
Bitts Park (Dacre Road) car park will be closed to the public on
both days of the event, but alternative parking is available close
to the venue. Car parking charges apply on both days.
