Local community and council get mucked in
Carlisle City Council, Milbourne Street residents and members of
the Christian Fellowship (based on Junction Street) joined
forces on Thursday 24 April in an effort to make their local
area ‘cleaner, greener and safer’.
Work started at 9am and included cleaning away
graffiti, replacing a fence and making some general improvements
works to a piece of communal grassed land opposite the Knights Inn
public house on Holmes Terrace.
Around six members of the City Council’s Green Spaces team
provided help by local volunteers, all willing to muck in and help
make improvements to their street.
As a ‘thank you’ to all those taking, a lunchtime barbecue
was planned by some local residents.
This was arranged for around 12noon.
The improvements worked are funded by the City Council and are
expected to cost around £1,000.
