Time running out to register for May elections

Residents have until  Wednesday 16 April to register in time for this May’s City Council Elections.

Householders who may have recently moved to the city or who have moved residency are being urged to contact the City Council’s Electoral Registration section before next week’s deadline or miss out on their chance to vote.

The deadline for new postal vote applications is also set for  Wednesday 16 April. All new postal vote applications need to be with Carlisle City Council’s Electoral Registration section by 5pm to meet the deadline. There are currently more than 9,200 electors who are eligible to vote by post in May.

The City Council Elections will be held on Thursday, 1 May 2008. The Election count will be held at The Sands Centre, the first ballot boxes are expected to arrive soon after the polling stations close at 10pm.
