Get your skates on
Carlisle’s first indoor Skate Festival

Local youngsters are being invited along to a celebration of
skating this May (Saturday, 1 May).
The Sands Centre will play host to the city’s first event indoor
Skate Festival. Organised by the Skaters of Carlisle (SoC) group,
with support from Carlisle City Council, the free event will
coincide with the end of their winter indoor training
programme.
The programme was a resounding success and resulted in around
150 young people taking up the chance to carry on skating, blading
and biking over the winter months.
- The indoor skate festival will be staged between 12noon and
10pm. The SoC group have organised a mixture of skate coaching,
BMX-ing, blading and live music from local bands. Activities will
include:
- From 10am, the SoC group with Carlisle City Council, will be
offering informal coaching to skateboarders and bladers of all ages
who want to improve their skills or try it out for the first time.
Safety equipment will be provided and all coaching will be
delivered by experienced skaters and bladers.
- The newly formed BoC (Bikers of Carlisle) are holding a BMX
bike only session between 12noon and 1.30pm.
- From 3pm, there will be live music from local bands and DJs who
will play while skating continues using a variety of ramps in the
main hall, right through till 10pm.
