Historic Guided Tours
Mayor to take part in local charity walks

The Mayor of Carlisle, Cllr Bill Graham is encouraging local
residents to join him as he finds out more about Carlisle’s history
during three charity walks organised to benefit local
charities.
The chance to find out more about Carlisle’s history, from a
local expert, is available as part of a series of fundraising
events for the Mayor’s Charity Fund.
Open Book Visitor Guiding have arranged some guided walks around
the main city attractions all in aid of the local charity fund. The
Carlisle Mayor will be attending all three events:
Carlisle Citadel and Old Crown Court
Friday, 16 April from 1pm - £5 per person
800 years of history with visits to the
Condemned Cell, Old Cells, Grand Jury Room, the Old Crown
Court.
Tea and coffee will be served in the
Hallmark Hotel near Citadel Station.
Carlisle Civic Heritage Tour
Tuesday, 20 April from 1pm - £5 per person.
The tour begins with an introduction to the
Civic Centre followed by a city tour including The Guildhall and St
Cuthbert’s Church.
Tea and coffee will be served at Hoopers’
Restaurant overlooking the Cathedral.
Carlisle Castle and Carlisle Cathedral
Saturday, 24 April from 1pm - £6 per
person.
The history of Carlisle Castle from 1092
including events involving Edward I, Henry VIII, Mary Queen of
Scots, Bonnie Prince Charlie and Queen Elizabeth II. Followed by a
visit to the Cathedral.
Tea and coffee will be served in the Prior’s
Kitchen, Carlisle Cathedral.
All proceeds will be donated to the Mayor’s Charity Fund, whose
main beneficiary is “Eden House Children’s Hospice, Carlisle”.

Tour Guides.
