Residents asked to comment on environmental issues
(Date of issue: Tuesday, 20 April 2010)
Longtown residents are being invited to have their say on how
their local environment could be improved in the future.
A drop in event has been organised at Longtown Memorial Hall
Community Centre next Wednesday (28 April) between 3pm and 8pm.
Organised by Arthuret Community Planning Group, made of local
residents with the common goal of producing the area’s first
Community Plan, the event will include representatives from local
agencies as well as a public exhibition.
Comments received from the environmental action day will feed
into the environment section of the Arthuret Community Plan. The
production of plan is ongoing and already includes information on
how the economy and the health & wellbeing of residents could
be developed in the future.
The environment event will include free refreshments and will
also include a Carlisle City Council recycling roadshow, with tips
on how to reduce, recycle and reuse.
Chairman of the Arthuret Community Planning Group, Nigel
Williamson, said:
“Making changes to the local environment can help
improve our community’s quality of life. We want local Longtown
residents to make their opinion count and call into the
environmental action event. We’d urge people to come along, have a
chat, have a cup of tea and find out how we can make a difference
together.”
The event has been organised with support from local agencies,
including Carlisle City Council, Cumbria County Council and
Arthuret Parish Council. Representatives will also be attending the
event.
