Wheelchair basketball
First training session planned
(Date of issue: Tuesday, 13 April 2010)
Carlisle's first wheelchair basketball training session
will be held next Tuesday (20 April) at the University of Cumbria's
Fusehill Street Sportshall.
A coach from the Newcastle Eagles basketball club will provide
expert tuition for the first session, which will be held between
7pm and 9pm.
Organised by Carlisle City Council, the Carlisle Panthers
Basketball Club and the newly established Carlisle Wheelchair
Sports Club, the free event is open to adults and young people who
want to try out wheelchair basketball for the first time.
There will be a range of sports wheelchairs available for use
and any visitor to the event will have a chance to use them (as you
do not have to be a wheelchair user to play wheelchair basketball).
For further details about the evening or to find out more about
the wheelchair basketball scheme, contact Paul Frampton on 01228
817581 or Tracy Gannon on 01228 817371.
