Time running out to register for May elections

Carlisle residents have until midnight next Thursday (14 April)
to register in time for this May’s City Council Elections
(Thursday, 5 May).
Householders who may have recently moved to the city or who have
moved residency are being urged to contact the City Council’s
Electoral Registration section before the deadline or miss out on
their chance to vote.
The deadline for new postal vote applications is also set for
Thursday, 14 April. All new postal vote applications need to be
with Carlisle City Council’s Electoral Registration section by 5pm
to meet the deadline. There are currently more than 13,380 electors
who are eligible to vote by post in May.
Electors can also submit new applications to vote by proxy.
These applications must be submitted by not later than 5pm on
Thursday, 21 April 2011. Applications to vote by proxy on the
grounds of medical emergency occurring after 5pm on Thursday, 21
April can be submitted up until 5pm on Thursday, 5 May 2011.
