City hosts European delegation
Partnership celebrated during twinning visit
A delegation from Poland and Germany have recently completed a
trip to Carlisle.
Officials from Carlisle 'twinning' counterparts in Flensburg,
Germany and Slupsk, Poland arrived into the city on Thursday
evening and remained until Monday (13 August). Their packed
programme included a trip to Talkin Tarn to see the recent
improvement works and attending the Carlisle Live concert.
They also attended a youth exchange presentation at Tullie House
on Friday, 10 August. Young people from each of the twinned cities
took part in a series of film, photography, music and dance
workshops.
A twinning delegation meeting was held at the Civic Centre later
in the afternoon where issues such as weblinks between the three
cities and future sporting and cultural exchanges were
discussed.
Their visit also included an 'Official Civic Dinner' on Friday
night at the Lakes Court Hotel.
