Crime Crash
Strong partnership.
Carlisle & Eden Crime and Reduction Partnership (CDRP) have
reason to be pleased with the most recent British Crime Survey
comparator figures for the period April to June 2007.
Between April and June 2006 there were a total of 3,687 crimes
committed, during the same period during 2007 a total of 3,245
crimes were committed, showing a significant drop of 442 offences
or 12%.
Acquisitive crime including robbery, car theft, domestic
burglary and theft from unattended cars all fell by 18.7% compared
to the previous year.
Criminal damage including damage to cars, houses, other
buildings and arson all fell by 7.8% compared to the previous
year.
Violent crime including wounding, wounding endangering life,
assault showed a decrease of 2.8% on the previous year.
The current CDRP priorities, which include contributing to a
high quality of life for all, and creating an environment where
people can feel secure and live without the threat or fear of crime
are reflected in these performance figures. They are a testament to
the hard work and dedication of all of the partners involved in
helping to make Carlisle and Eden among the safest places to live
in the country.

work, actively supports improvements in the quality of life for

the CDRP has through working in partnership with
the local community significantly reduced crime in the area and
additionally supported the drive to make Carlisle a Cleaner,
Greener and Safer place for all residents.
North Cumbria Chief Superintendent Andy Davidson said:
these figures demonstrate that we are working
hard to address local people's concerns and reduce the fear of
crime, reducing the areas crime figures by 12% on the same period
last year is a significant achievement. Another example of positive
action taken with our partners to make the residents of Carlisle
and Eden feel safe and secure.
