Anti-social behaviour driven down.
Carlisle & Eden Crime and Reduction Partnership (CDRP) have
reason to be pleased Anti-social behaviour figures for Carlisle and
Eden have tumbled for the period 1 April 2007 to 31July 2007.
Countywide there has also been a significant fall in Anti-social
Behaviour. During the period between April and July 2006 there were
a total of 19,547 reported incidents, during the same period during
2007 there were a total of 15,290 reported incidents. A drop of,
4,257 reported incidents, an overall decrease of 22%
Countywide.
Throughout Carlisle and District Anti-social behaviour incidents
fell by a total 1511 incidents or 26% and in Eden it fell by a
total of 307 incidents or 28%.
The Carlisle wards recorded figures as follows:
Belle Vue 41% reduction, Botcherby 24% reduction, Brampton 32%
reduction, Burgh 19% reduction, Castle 5% increase, Currock 47%
reduction, Dalston 32% reduction, Dentonholme 27% reduction, Great
Corby/Geltsdale 58% reduction, Harraby 24% reduction, Hayton 45%
reduction, Irthing 21% reduction, Longtown 14% reduction, Lyne 21%
reduction, Morton 25% reduction, St Aidans 33% reduction, Stanwix
Rural 9% reduction, Stanwix 48% reduction, Upperby 32% reduction,
Wetheral 40% reduction and Yewdale 8% increase.
The current CDRP priorities, which include contributing to a
high quality of life for all, and creating an environment where
people can feel secure and live without the threat or fear of crime
are reflected in these significantly reduced Anti-social Behaviour
figures. They are a testament to the hard work and dedication of
all of the partners involved in helping to make Carlisle and Eden
among the safest places to live in the country. The recently
established Multi Agency Problem Solving Unit (Maps) has already
started to pay dividends and will assist in continuing to drive
down the Anti-social Behaviour figures for North Cumbria.

North Cumbria Chief Superintendent Andy Davidson said:
these figures demonstrate that we are working
hard to address local people's concerns and reduce the fear of
crime. By reducing the areas Anti-social Behaviour figures by 28%
in Eden and 26% in Carlisle and District compared to the same
period last year is a significant achievement. Another example of
positive action taken with our partners to make the residents of
Carlisle and Eden feel safe and secure.
