High scores for boathouse tearoom

Talkin Tarn has received a four-star ‘Scores on the Doors’ rating for their boathouse tearoom.

A recent food hygiene inspection resulted in the Country Park receiving the distinction and means that their customers will be safe in the knowledge that the tearoom complies with the necessary food hygiene practices. One of the 523 businesses that have been so far been assessed, with the Tarn being one of only 132 in the District that have achieved a 4* rating.

The popular eating-place sits alongside the country park’s glacial tarn and provides stunning views of the Pennines. Its menu includes a range of homemade food, to suit all tastes.

Carlisle City Council took over the management of the Country Park in April last year and upgraded the boathouse tearoom and other facilities. The area and its buildings were made accessible, as well as safe, for residents to visit. Over time, the facilities had become neglected and were in need of repair.

The Talkin Tarn tearoom is also open over the festive period and as a special treat, is serving Christmas pudding ice-cream. Four course Christmas lunches are available until Friday, 21 December. Evening functions are also available. Telephone 016977 41050 to make a booking.
