Energy efficiency work recognised
Cumbria Energy Efficiency Advice Centre’s (CEEAC) award winning
team which has helped thousands of households in Cumbria save more
than £1.6million a year in energy bills, has once more been
recognised at two prestigious National awards ceremonies.
CEEAC were one of the major prizewinners in the International
Green Apple Awards 2007 at the end of November. The awards are part
of a campaign which is run by the Green Organisation, an
independent, non political, non- profit organisation that
recognizes, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around
the world. The award was given in recognition of the ICE (Improving
Cumbria's Energy) Project. The judges commented "The effectiveness
of the centre to reach and assist the 200,000 homes in it's beat is
easily seen. Supplying practical help, advice and equipment to more
than 50,000 families."
The award-winning project will be featured in "The Green Book"
and the organisation will be presented with a prestigious Green
Heroes Shield in Spring 2008, during a special prize giving
ceremony.
CEEAC also won the Energy Efficient Services category at the
National Energy Efficiency Awards 2007 held at a ceremony at the
London Aquarium on December 5. With the judges describing the
project as "a refreshing and effective approach to encourage energy
efficiency in the local community."
Suzanne Burgess CEEAC Manager said:
I am immensely proud of the achievements of my
dedicated team of energy advisors. Against all odds we have managed
to deliver an energy efficiency project that is the envy of the
rest of the industry. These awards are a testament to the hard work
and dedication of all of my staff to this project.
Cllr Judy Prest Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing
said:
Staff from CEEAC provide an excellent service to
local residents and should be highly commended for their
professional service. They help local people who are faced with a
bewildering array of grants to make sense of the options and access
the right funds for them. One of CEEAC's greatest strengths is the
stringent management controls it has developed which ensure that
contractors carry out work to consistently high standards.
