City Council inaugural event celebrates staff success

Carlisle City Council will stage its first ever ‘Celebration of Learning’ event tomorrow evening (Tuesday, 18 December), starting at 6.30pm.

Held at Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery, the event aims to recognise the achievement of staff who have gained qualifications within the last two years.

Approximately 47 employees and their partners are expected to attend and will be joined by the Leader of the City Council, Cllr Mike Mitchelson and the City Council’s Town Clerk & Chief Executive, Maggie Mooney, who will both make presentations.

Maggie Mooney, Carlisle City Council’s Town Clerk & Chief Executive said:

This is a special night for the City Council. It’s a celebration of the hard work of staff who have achieved by learning new skills and the additional benefits it has given them – self-confidence and a real sense of achievement.

We are a learning council and we all benefit from the achievements gained by our staff, including our local communities. High performing staff means we provide much improved skills. Our Celebration of Learning underlines the power of learning for all of us and everyone at the City Council understands that none of us is as clever as all of us.

The Leader of Carlisle City Council, Cllr Mike Mitchelson, said:

The Go Award, APSE awards and IiP are the National Standards for developing staff in line with the needs of individuals, teams and the organisation. They are a public demonstration that we recognise that to succeed as an organisation, we must continue to invest in the knowledge and skills of our workforce. I would like to congratulate all staff who have achieved learning success.
