Bitts Park airdome hosts free taster sessions
(Date of issue: Monday, 7 December 2009)
Carlisle’s first ever wheelchair tennis event will be held this
Saturday (12 December) in the Bitts Park airdome, between 5pm and
7pm.
A free taster session has been arranged by Carlisle City
Council’s Sports and Recreation team and will include training from
an LTA coach who specialises in wheelchair tennis.
The event is open all ages and abilities. Adapted tennis
wheelchairs will available to use on the day.
Cllr Ray Bloxham, Portfolio holder for Environment and
Infrastructure, said:
“We always striving to build on our tennis
programme, to ensure all residents are given the opportunity to
take part. This will be the first time that a wheelchair tennis
event has been held in Carlisle and we hope to turn this into a
weekly session in the New Year, as part of the overall City Council
tennis programme.”
