Snow more school!
A ‘Harraby Christmas’ event
(Date of issue: Monday, 13 December 2010)
A ‘Harraby Christmas’ event will be held for local youngsters
from Richard Rose Central Academy this Wednesday (15 December) at
Harraby Community Centre, Edgehill Road.
The free festive event will be held between 12noon - 3pm and has
been organised to coincide with the academy’s early closure for
Christmas tomorrow (14 December), in preparation for their exciting
move to the new build in the city centre.
The ‘Harraby Christmas’ day has been organised by Carlisle City
Council, Connexions Cumbria and Harraby Community Centre.
Activities will include Christmas crafts, sporting activities
(including the use of the current Richard Rose Central Academy’s
gym hall), advice workshops with DASH (drugs, alcohol and sexual
health), plus much more!
The event is open to all Richard Rose Central Academy students
from year 7 – year 11.
David Leadbetter, Area Manager for Connexions Cumbria in
Carlisle and Penrith, said:
“This event is the latest in a number of local initiatives
arising from effective partnership working. It provides an
opportunity to engage young people in fun and informative positive
activities, whilst also signposting the help, support and
opportunities available to young people within the wider
community.”
A new youth club is also now available for pupils of Richard
Rose Central Academy. It takes place on Thursday evenings between
6.30pm and 8pm at Harraby Community centre, for young people
between the ages of 13 – 19.
