Starlight Lantern Procession
(Date of issue: Monday, 6 December 2010)
Local residents and community groups are being given another
opportunity to make their own lanterns to bring along to this
Thursday’s (9 December 2010) Starlight Lantern Procession.
It is hoped that there will be a spectacular display of lanterns
in the procession and local residents are being given the
opportunity to make their own and bring them along on the night.
Chrysalis Arts are holding drop in sessions at Bitts Park depot
(off Devonshire Walk), on Monday, 6 December, Tuesday, 7 December
and Wednesday, 8 December, between 4pm and 6pm each day. Other
sessions can also be arranged at different times, by calling 07976
731151.
The Carlisle City Council event is set to be one of the
highlights of Carlisle’s festive programme and will include a
procession into the city centre, meeting at Devonshire Walk car
park, next to Carlisle Castle, at 5.45pm.
The procession will be led by three wise men on camels and the
Crocodile Style Band. Entertainment will then continue into the
city centre and will finish around 7.30pm. It will include the
Cedar Mount All Stars Steel Band, a Christmas carol sing-a-long
including the recently formed Community Choir and the University of
Cumbria Choir, as well as a fire juggler, a roller-skating
Christmas Pudding and a stilt walking Christmas tree.
