Time running out to register for Belah and Castle By-Elections

Residents have until next Wednesday (18 February) to register to vote or apply for a postal vote for this March’s City Council By-Elections in Belah and Castle wards.

Electors who are unable to cast their vote in person on the day of the election (Thursday, 5 March) are being urged to contact Carlisle City Council’s Electoral Registration section before next week’s deadline or miss out on their chance to vote.

All new postal vote applications need to be with Carlisle City Council’s Electoral Registration section by 5pm on Wednesday, 18 February to meet the deadline.

Residents wanting to apply to vote by post can request application forms by telephoning 01228 817555 or 01228 817556 or by emailing elections@carlisle.gov.uk

The City Council Belah and Castle By-Elections will be held on Thursday, 5 March 2009. One seat will be contested for each ward.

The Election count will be held at the Civic Centre, the first ballot boxes are expected to arrive soon after the polling stations close at 10pm.
