Bitts Park half-term event

Children from around the county will be taking part in a series
of junior tennis tournaments this February half-term.
Starting next Monday (15 February), the competitions have been
organised by Carlisle City Council and will be held at the Bitts
Park tennis courts.
Split over four days, the following events will be held on the
following dates and are all fully subscribed.
- Monday, 15 February: 10am-12noon – Mini-Red group (children
aged 8 years and under);
- Monday, 15 February: 12noon-3pm – Mini-Orange group (children
aged 9 years and under);
- Tuesday, 16 February: 10am-12noon – Mini-Green group (children
aged 10 years and under); and
- Wednesday, 17 February 10am-3pm – full ball tennis (children
aged 11+ years). Boys.
- Thursday, 18 February, 10am-3pm- Full ball tennis (children
aged 11+ years). Girls
Around 50 budding tennis players will be taking part in the
festival.
Cllr Ray Bloxham, Portfolio holder for Environment and
Infrastructure, said:
“We are looking forward to welcoming some budding
tennis players from around the county. Organised as part of our
tennis development plan, it is an opportunity for local youngsters
to compete against each other and put their training into
practise.”
Everyone taking part in the tournament will receive a
certificate and the overall winners will get a trophy. The event
has been supported by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association).
