Carlisle Licensing Policy
Have your say
(Date of issue: Wednesday, 23 February 2011)
Local residents and businesses are being asked to comment on
Carlisle City Council’s Sex Establishment Policy.
The new policy will cover the licensing and regulation of sex
entertainment venues such as lap dancing clubs; pole dancing clubs;
sex shops and sex cinemas.
A public consultation on the draft policy is now underway and
any comments need to be submitted before Friday, 15 April 2011.
The Council recognises the important role that regulatory
authorities, the licensed trade, residents, businesses and other
stakeholders have to play in influencing this Policy. It therefore
intends to take a wide range of views on the Policy as part of its
consultation.
Carlisle City Cllr John Mallinson, Portfolio holder for
Governance and Resources, said:
“The council takes its responsibility as the licensing authority
in Carlisle very seriously. It is extremely important we get the
policy right for the businesses and residents in the area and work
in partnership with the Police and Fire Service along with the
other responsible authorities. We want people to give us their
views and comments on the draft policy we have prepared as this is
a policy which affects the whole community.”
Local views are important and they will help determine the final
content of the policy and all written comments shall be considered,
although the City Council not be able to respond individually to
each comment.
Copies of the draft policy are available on the council’s
website www.carlisle.gov.uk and from the reception area at the
Civic Centre in Carlisle.
Any comments should be submitted in writing to Mr J A Messenger,
Licensing Manager, Carlisle City Council, Civic Centre, Carlisle
CA3 8QG or by emailing licensing@carlisle.gov.uk to
be received no later than Friday, 15 April 2011.
