(Date of issue: Wednesday, 9 February 2011)
New car parking charges will come into force next Monday (14
February 2011).
Some charges will remain the same. The following will come into
operation:
- No change to the charge for more than four hours in a short
stay car park. This will remain at the current rate of £10.
- Short stay charges will be increased by 10p to an hourly rate
of £1 on charges for up to four hours.
- Long stay car parks charges will be increased by 10p to an
hourly rate of 90p.
- Sunday and Bank Holiday charges will continue to be the same as
the normal day rate charge.
- Cost of contract parking will only be increased to reflect the
change in the rate of VAT from 17.5% to 20%.
- Charges at Talkin Tarn will remain the same. There will be no
increase to parking charges.
In addition to the new charges, all the parking bays within The
Sands Centre will revert to being long stay (around 66 spaces are
currently short stay). The Upper Viaduct will also change from a
long stay car park into a short stay car park to meet demand.
The new charges come into operation next Monday (14 February).
