Refuse date changes
New calendars for all Carlisle households
(Date of issue: Friday, 18 February 2011)
Some changes to Carlisle refuse collection dates and times will
come into operation from Tuesday, 1 March.
Following a review of household waste collection rounds,
Carlisle City Council has made changes to some collection dates.
This will make the collection rounds more efficient and has reduced
the number of refuse vehicles needed to collect household waste.
The impact of these changes will be:
- Around 10,000 households will see their collection day change;
and
- Those households whose collection day remains the same may see
a change in the time that their refuse is collected. Residents are
reminded that they should put their refuse and recycling out for
collection before 7am on the scheduled day of collection.
New refuse and recycling calendars will be sent to householders
from today (Friday, 18 February) providing householders’
information about the changes before they take into effect from
Tuesday, 1 March onwards.
Full details of the new collection arrangements will be
available to householders on the City Council’s website – www.carlisle.gov.uk/refuseandrecycling -
from Monday, 28 February onwards.
Cllr Ray Bloxham, Portfolio holder for Environment, said:
“We are advising residents to please check their new collection
calendars carefully. Please don’t assume that your collection date
and time is the same as before. We apologise for any short-term
inconvenience this may cause.”
