Cllr Ray Bloxham, Portfolio holder for Local Environment,
said:
“If possible, we’d like as many groups and individuals to lend a
hand. You can come for just a half hour or if you wish to stay all
day that’s up to you. All help will be very much appreciated.”
The trees have been funded by a £10,000 North Pennines AONB
Partnership's Living North Pennines project grant.
Proposals are also in place to plant more a further 8,500 trees
at Talkin Tarn Country Park later this year
Visitors to the park and the Friends of Talkin Tarn have been
asked their views on the new woodland scheme. This has resulted in
a positive response from visitors to the country park. The feedback
from the consultation will be used as part of a £30,000 application
to the Woodland Grant Scheme.
