Refuse and recycling update
(Date of issue: Thursday, 7 January 2010)
There will be no refuse and recycling collections in Carlisle on
Friday, 8 January.
Services will be affected as follows:
Refuse
collections
Extreme freezing temperatures have also resulted in the majority
of today’s collections being suspended and every effort will be
made to collect any missed refuse collections next Monday (11
January).
Householders whose refuse collection was scheduled for Friday, 8
January, are also advised to put their bins out on Monday (11
January) instead.
Recycling
There will be no plastic and cardboard recycling
collections on Friday, 8 January.
Residents from the Botcherby and Petteril Bank areas are asked
to put their recycling out for collection on Monday (11 January).
All other householders are asked to check their recycling calendars
and put their recycling out for collection on their next collection
date i.e. two weeks time.
The collection of garden waste has been suspended and will
resume again in February, weather permitting. This is to
concentrate efforts on collecting refuse as quickly as possible.
Residents are advised to check their recycling calendars and put
their green waste bin out for collection from their next February
collection date.
Whilst collections are suspended, waste services staff will join
other Carlisle City Council front line employees clearing
pavements.
