Tickets still available for Mayor’s Charity Event

The Mayor of Carlisle, Cllr William Graham, is inviting local
residents and businesses to join him at his Charity Burns Night
Supper later this month (Friday, 22 January).
Tickets are still available for the annual function to be held
at the Cumbria Park Hotel, Scotland Road, Carlisle between 7pm and
midnight. Profits from the evening will be in aid of the Mayor of
Carlisle’s Charity Fund 2009/10, whose main beneficiary is the Eden
House Children’s Hospice, Carlisle.
Tickets cost £20 and include a five-course meal, with
traditional haggis (Vegetarian Option available). The Guest
Speakers will be:
- Welcome, Toast to “The Queen”, and Vote of Thanks – The Mayor
(Councillor William Graham)
- Master of Ceremonies – Mr Colin Powell, Fund-Raising Manager,
Eden Valley Hospice
- Piper – Mr Ken MacKay
- Selkirk Grace – Councillor Peter Farmer
- The Immortal Memory – Mr Ian Husband
- “Address to The Haggis” (in English), and Toast to “The
Lassies” – Mr Stewart Long
- “Address to The Haggis” (in Scottish), and Tam O’Shanter – Mr
Stuart Moffat
- Reply on behalf of “The Lassies” – Mrs Eleanor Paterson.
A raffle will also be held, and guests attending the function
are asked to wear “something tartan”. Tickets are available from
