Back2Skate
(Date of issue: Thursday, 6 January 2011)
Carlisle City Council, working in partnership with The Sands
Centre, is holding a late skate event this Friday (7 January 2011),
between 6pm and 10pm.
The event is designed for children and young people of all ages
and abilities. If you do not know how to skate, then here is the
opportunity to learn how! The evening is divided into three
sections:
- 6pm – 7pm: Coaching only
- 7pm – 8pm: BMX Session
- 8pm – 10pm: Skate and Boarding Session
The event is FREE and people just need to sign themselves in
(all under 16’s need to be signed in by a parent/guardian aged18
plus). This is a great opportunity for families, children and young
people to get together and learn a new sport and have some fun!
There will be future skate and BMX events held at The Sands Centre
in March and May, dates and times to be confirmed.
Carlisle City Council is also working in partnership with
Wetheral’s Animal Refuge and there will be a representative
fundraising for the organisation at the event with all donations
going to support the care and homing of any animals.
Chris Baird, one of the organisers of back2skate, said:
“Skate and BMX events like this are a great way of breaking down
cultural barriers whilst also getting children and young people
into active sports.”
