Burns Night Supper

Tickets still available for Mayor’s Charity Event

The Mayor of Carlisle, Cllr Barry Earp, is inviting local residents and businesses to join him at his Charity Burns Night Supper, sponsored by the Edinburgh Woollen Mill Ltd, later this month (Friday, 27January).

Tickets are still available for the annual function to be held at Foxy’s Restaurant (Carlisle United), Warwick Road, Carlisle between 7pm and midnight. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to The Mayor’s Charity Fund 2011/12, the main beneficiary of which is Hospice@Home (Carlisle & North Lakeland), with three other Local Charities [NSPCC Carlisle, Citizens’ Advice Bureau (Carlisle), and Community Projects Carlisle] also benefiting.

Tickets cost £20 and include a five-course meal, with traditional haggis (Vegetarian Option available). The Guest Speakers will be:

  • Welcome, Toast to “The Queen”, and Vote of Thanks – The Mayor (Councillor Barry Earp)
  • Master of Ceremonies – Mr Ian Husband
  • Piper – Mr Ken MacKay
  • Selkirk Grace – Mr Peter Riddle
  • The Immortal Memory – Mr Euan Cartwright
  • “Address to The Haggis” (in Scottish), and Holy Willie’s Prayer – Mr Stuart Moffat
  • Toast to “The Lassies” – Councillor Stephen Layden
  • Reply on behalf of “The Lassies” – Mrs Eleanor Paterson.
