Mayoral event celebrates group’s 21st anniversary

The Mayor of Carlisle, Cllr Barry Earp is hosting a special event in celebration of Carlisle Access Group’s 21st anniversary.

The Civic Function will be held at Tullie House this Wednesday (1 February) at 2.30pm.

Carlisle Access Group is the champion of local disability groups and continues to ensure that facilities within the city are open and accessible to all.

The strong and diligent team includes 17 members who represent local disability groups and organisations, or are individual members. All have a wide knowledge and experience of disability related issues. As well as ensuring that buildings are accessible to all, the group also ensures that provision of signage and assistance for people who are deaf or visually impaired is put in place.

The following groups and organisations have representatives within Carlisle Access Group:

  • Carlisle Society for the Blind
  • Council for Voluntary Services (CVS)
  • Cumbria Police
  • Deaf Vision
  • Disability Advice Carlisle and Eden (DACE)
  • Carlisle Mencap
  • Carlisle Shopmobility
  • Fast Forward 89
  • Cerebral Palsy Cumbria
  • Cumberland Infirmary.
