Carlisle Health Heating Scheme
Offering help to Low Income households

As the cold winter weather kicks in, Carlisle City Council is
offering people, with a cold related illness, support to repair or
replace home heating systems.
The Carlisle Health Heating Scheme is a very limited offer.
Householders, who think they meet the following criteria, should
contact the council for an application form or further
information.
The scheme has been set up to help low income homeowners with a
cold related health problem who currently have inadequate heating
systems in their home. The qualifying criteria are:
If you have a cold related health problem / illness that is
affected by inadequate heating
And you are:
- A home owner whose Council Tax band is A or B and fall into one
of the following categories:
- You are on a means tested benefit with an annual household
income below £22,000 with savings or less than £6,000;
Or
- You are over 65 years of age with an annual household income
below £22,000 (take home pay) with savings of less than
£10,000.
Cllr Ray Bloxham, Portfolio holder for Environment and Housing,
said:
“Funding for this scheme is very limited and will be allocated
on a first come, first served basis. It is aimed at householders
who need financial support to upgrade or replace inadequate heating
systems. It is one of many schemes we have put in place in for
vulnerable residents and I hope those in need in contact us.”

The scheme is based on a first come basis, completion of the
application form does not mean householders will be accepted onto
the scheme and the Council decision is final. No work can be done
without written approval from Carlisle City Council.
