Carlisle judged for Cumbria in Bloom
Local businesses and residents are being asked to back the
Carlisle in Bloom campaign by sprucing up their gardens in advance
of the area's blooming credentials being judged next Tuesday (24
July).
Cumbria in Bloom judges Bill Hoodless and David Cowen - will be
visiting the city between 1.15pm and 4pm and will be on the outlook
for Carlisle's floral prowess. Stanwix in Bloom will also be judged
on Tuesday, between 10.15am and 12pm.
Areas being judged will include city centre streets, Warwick
Road, Portland Square, The Crescent, Caldewgate, Dalston Road,
Richardson Street and Wigton Road.
Bedding plants at Stanwix School, Cumbria Park Hotel, Courtfield
Bowling Club, The Courts bedding display, Citadel Train Station,
the city centre shopping area, Carlisle Cathedral, Tullie House,
Carlisle Cemetery and Chances' Park will all form part of their
short stay.
A summary of the itinerary for the day is as follows:
- 10am the judges will meet the Carlisle in Bloom team at the
Civic Centre
- 10.15am the judges will tour the Stanwix area
- 1.15pm the judges will leave Tullie House Museum and will walk
around the city centre, including the Cathedral and Citadel railway
station area
- 2.00pm - the judges will visit Chances' Park/Morton Manor
- 2.15pm - the judges will visit residential gardens in
Morton
- 2.25pm - the judges will visit Carlisle Cemetery
- 2.45pm - the judges will visit Thorney Flatts allotments
- 3.15pm - the judges will visit Bitts Park

Council continue to invest a considerable amount of time and effort
into making the local environment pleasant places for all residents
to saviour. The Cumbria in Bloom judges will see examples of this
tireless work next week.
The Cumbria in Bloom winners will be announced this
September.
