Summertime countryside activities

Local children are being invited to find out more about their local countryside this summer by taking part in a series of outdoor activities.

Organised by Carlisle City Council and Cumbria Wildlife Trust, the free events are aimed at children aged between 6 and 12 years old, accompanied by an adult.

All the wildlife days will be staged between 1pm and 3pm on the following days:

  • Wednesday, 25 July Hawk Walk through Kingmoor held in Kingmoor South Nature Reserve. Meeting in the main car park off Kingmoor Road.
  • Wednesday 8th August - Environmental Playday held in Rickerby Park. Meeting at the riverside car park and picnic area.
  • Wednesday, 29th August - Paper Raft Racing on the River Eden held in Rickerby Park. Meeting at the riverside car park and picnic area.
  • Wednesday, 24 October - Seed Collecting in Kingmoor (organised to coincide with National Seed Collection Week) held in Kingmoor South Nature Reserve. Meeting in the main car park off Kingmoor Road.
