Carlisle judged for Cumbria in Bloom

Local businesses and residents are being asked to back the Carlisle in Bloom campaign by sprucing up their gardens in advance of the area’s blooming credentials being judged this Thursday (17 July).

Areas being judged include Hardwicke Circus, Chiswick Street, Warwick Road, St Aidan's Church, Aglionby Street, Brunswick Square, the Courts and Crescent area, the city centre shopping area, Citadel Train station, Bitts Park and Stanwix Churchyard.

A summary of the itinerary for the day is as follows:

  • 10am - The judges will meet the Carlisle in Bloom team at The Sands Centre
  • 10.15am – The judges will be given a tour around St Aidan’s Church, Portland Square, the Courts and Crescent area and the Citadel Train station
  • 11.30am - The judges will walk through Bitts Park, then on to Tullie House and through the city centre shopping area
  • 12.15pm - The judges will have a quick tour around Carlisle Cemetery and Chance’s Park
  • 1.15pm - The judges will tour the Stanwix area and meet up with the Friends on Stanwix.

Carlisle City Council would like to thank all the shops and businesses in the city centre who have supported the Carlisle in Bloom campaign by taking part in the hanging basket scheme. Thanks also to BSW Timber, A1 Arborist, Carlisle Leisure Ltd, Stagecoach North West and Capita Symonds who have all sponsored this year’s Cumbria in Bloom entry.

The Cumbria in Bloom winners will be announced this September.
