‘Sail-In’ day planned this weekend

Local families are being invited to test out their sailing skills this Sunday (3 August) at Talkin Tarn Country Park.

A ‘Sail-In’ day will be held between 11am and 4pm and has been organised by Carlisle Model Boat Club. It will also include guests from Windermere Model Boat Club.

A wide range of model boats will be on display at the free event and some will be available for visitors to ‘have a go’ and sail the boats themselves.

Yachts, scale electric and steam-powered boats will all be on show (weather permitting), most of which have been hand-built by the members of the clubs.

Jack Webster, from Carlisle Model Boat Club, said:

"The event will be a rare opportunity to see an extensive collection of marine models, in one place, at one time. We hope to have around 30 model boats on show on the day and encourage visitors to come along for a free family day out."
