Carlisle schools take part in national scheme

Ninety Carlisle school children will be taking part in a
Tri-Golf Festival this Wednesday (8 July), between 1pm and 3pm, at
Richard Rose Central Academy.
Nine junior schools, each with ten representative students, aged
between 8 and 10 years old, will compete in the golfing challenge.
Organised by Carlisle City Council, with support from ten local
volunteers, fully trained in the tri-golf activators award*, the
event is part of a national Golf Foundation initiative being rolled
out across the country. Each student will receive a medal,
certificate and goodie bag from the Golf Foundation for taking
part.
The winners of the Carlisle festival will represent the city at
a national festival, due to be held in Loughborough in September
this year.
Co-ordinated by Carlisle City Council and partners – the School
Sports Partnership; Cumbria Golf Development Officer; Fesco Officer
(Further Education Sports Co-ordinator) and Cumbria Sport -each
school will been given five hours training each, by local golf pros
as part of the build up to the event.
