Volunteers needed for city clean up

Big Tidy Up event - Melbourne Park

Date of issue: Monday 5 July 2010

Local residents are being asked to muck in and help clean-up Melbourne Park on the evening of Monday, 12 July.

As part of the Keep Britain Tidy nationwide campaign, The Big Tidy Up, Carlisle City Council’s countryside section has joined forces with members of the Friends of Melbourne Park and Eden Rivers Trust to organise the community clean-up both on the park and in the river.

All are welcome to come down and help on the day. The tidy-up will be held between 6.30pm and 8.30pm and those wanting to take part should meet at the BMX track. Gloves, litter pickers and bin bags will be provided.

The litter pick is one of many measures the City Council has taken to encourage residents and visitors to keep Carlisle Cleaner, Greener and Safer. For further information about the clear-up event, please contact the City Council on 01228 817200.
