Brampton Business event

Free advice and support for local businesses

(Date of issue: Tuesday, 1 June 2010)

Brampton businesses are being invited along to a free advice and support event next Tuesday (8 June).

Organised by the newly formed Brampton and District Business Association, the event will be held at The Howard Arms Hotel, Brampton between 6pm and 8pm.

As part of the event, there will be an opportunity to meet members of the association and to network with other businesses. There will also be stands from 12 business support organisations and an opportunity to find out about grants and finance, training, help for tourism businesses, general business advice and special topics such as help to green your business.

Chair of Brampton and District Business Association, Alison Cheetham, said:

“The Brampton and District Business Association grew out of Brampton Chamber of Trade and aims to develop a wider cross section of businesses, particularly those in tourism and those located on the towns industrial estate. We want to support local businesses and help them grow and develop. We hope as many businesses as possible will come along to our inaugural event and find out how we can all work together to build the economy within Brampton and its surrounding area.”

Brampton Business Association is also an active member of Brampton Economic Partnership which seeks to improve the economic backdrop for the town and surrounding rural area, for example improving the availability and speed of broadband. The event on the Tuesday, 8 June is being supported by both the partnership and Carlisle City Council.

Carlisle City Councillor Marilyn Bowman, Portfolio holder for Economic Development, said:

“I am delighted that the City Council has been able to support this event. We believe that the Brampton and District Business Association has a really important role to play in growing the local economy. It offers the opportunity for local businesses to trade with each other but also to share ideas and experiences. I am also pleased so many business support organisations have agreed to come along and this confirms the importance of this event.”

The business reception event is free and will be held between 6pm and 8pm. Organiser’s welcome representatives from any size of business. For further information, contact Alison or Kathleen at halfmoonwholefoods@btconnect.com or telephone 016977 3775.
