Carlisle Mayor Charity Fund
First meeting of new Charity Fundraising Committee
(Date of issue: Friday, 4 June 2010)
A mix of Civic ambassadors, local residents and leading business
people will make up this year’s Carlisle Mayor’s Charity
Fundraising Committee.
The committee is made of different members each year. Each new
Mayor sends out invitations to new prospective members.
The Mayor of Carlisle, Cllr Mary Styth has sent out invitations
to: her daughter Carol Milnes, an established events organiser;
Evlyn Goddard from Kingmoor Park Properties Ltd; Tracey Dawes, The
Andalusian’s General Manager; Lara Brown from Vibralight Fitness
Clinic; Jason Brierley from Hair at Jibe; Alison Cartner from David
Allen & Co Chartered Accountants; Sue Kennett from Enitiative
Media Ltd and local resident June Carswell.
Some of her fellow councillors, including long serving members
of previous charity fundraising committees – Cllr Jacquelyne
Geddes; Cllr Doreen Parsons; Cllr Jessica Riddle; Cllr Trevor
Allison and Cllr Donald Cape – have also been invited on to the
committee.
The Mayor of Carlisle, Cllr Mary Styth, said:
“I have sent out invitations to a range of local
business people, as well as civic ambassadors, as I want to involve
the business community in civic activities. Although I have only
been Mayor for a relatively short period, I have already had offers
of fundraising support and I want to work alongside the new Charity
Fundraising Committee to seize on these opportunities.
“I hope to hold a series of fundraising events
throughout the year and look forward to working alongside the
committee.”
The first meeting of this year’s Mayoral Charity Fundraising
will be held next Monday (7 June), 5pm, at the Civic Centre.
Although this is a closed meeting, there will be an opportunity to
take photos of the newly formed committee before their inaugural
meeting starts.
