Step Back in Time Garden Party
Chance's Park summer event
(Date of issue: Tuesday, 28 June 2011)
A ‘Step Back in Time’ Garden Party will be held at
Chance’s Park, Carlisle on Sunday, 10 July, between 12noon and
3pm.
The event promises to give visitors a glimpse into a bygone era
and will include a variety of traditional stalls. The afternoon
will be packed with fun for all the family and will include a
‘Strongman’, horse drawn carriage rides around the park, Morris
Dancing, cream teas and the chance to try your hand at a coconut
shy or even be put in the stocks!
There promises to be something for everyone, ranging from face
painting for children to music from the St Stephen’s Band, as well
as the opportunity to take part in a tug of war competition.
Those taking part in the event will be dressed in period costume
and are encouraging local residents to follow the lead, with a
prize for the child in the best dressed Edwardian/Victorian
outfit.
In addition to the cream teas, toffee apples and candy floss
will also be on sale throughout the event.
The event has been organised by Morton Community Centre and the
Friends of Chance’s Park, in partnership with Carlisle City
Council. Support has been provided from the Heritage Lottery
Fund.
