Viaduct car parks
(Date of issue: Friday, 20 March 2009)
Two Carlisle City Council car parks will be temporarily closed
during the next few weeks.
As part of the ongoing University of Cumbria campus plans,
ground investigation works will be undertaken on the Caldew
riverside area. The Victoria Viaduct area has been subject to a
number of historic uses and the investigations will help determine
the current conditions of the land.
To allow this to happen, the following car parks will be
temporarily out of use:
Upper Viaduct car park will be closed on:
- Wednesday, 25 March
- Tuesday, 31 March - Wednesday, 8 April (inclusive)
Lower Viaduct car park will be closed on:
- Thursday, 26 March and Friday, 27 March.
Signs advertising the closures will be placed at the car parks’
ticket machines. Fencing will also be put in place to ensure that
cars will not be able to access the car parks during their period
of closure.
The City Council would like to apologise for an inconvenience
the temporary closures may cause motorists. They are advising
motorists to plan their journeys and to use alternative car parks
during the temporary closure periods.
