Keep it clean
Countdown to clear up campaign
(Date of issue: Thursday, 3 March 2011)
Stanwix, Carlisle is only days away from a Big Tidy Up!
A wide range of community groups and local volunteers have
signed up to take part in a Stanwix Big Tidy Up event, starting
next Monday (7 March).
Local school children, students, sports groups, church
volunteers and community groups have all pledged their support.
Local residents are also being asked to lend a hand by taking part
in a community litter-pick. This will be held on Saturday, 12
March, between 10am and 3pm.
Anyone that wants to take part, should meet at Stanwix Community
Association Hut, Church Street, Stanwix at 10am.
All equipment will be provided by the City Council. Anyone

Between Monday, 7 March and Saturday, 12 March, Carlisle City
Council and partners, are planning a comprehensive clean-up of the
Stanwix area and are asking the local community to lend a hand.
Cllr Elizabeth Mallinson, Ward Councillor for Stanwix Urban,
said:
"I’m so proud that our community has backed this Big
Tidy Up campaign. From all ages – school children to students, and
not forgetting the adults! All have pledged their support. This is
a brilliant opportunity for local residents to lend their support
and follow the lead of local community groups who have already
signed up to take part.”

the week-long Tidy Up:

in the Woods!’ litter picking event on Wednesday, 9 March at

will also be asked not to park on Tarraby Lane to allow highways
